Festivals
Visitors can experience first hand the fascinating religious festivals (teschu) held throughout the year. Narrating through dance and drama the religious legends from the past, the dancers in exotic and sometimes startling masks and richly colored costumes depict an amazing pantheon of deities, animals, personalities, demons and ghosts. Accompanied by cymbals, drums, long brass and copper horns and wailing trumpets, the vibrancy and color of these dances leave an unforgettable impression on the visitors. And these festivals are not tourist sights- they are an integral part of the life of the people, to which visitors to Bhutan are welcomed.
